Meet Sabina
From Space Operations to Storytelling: Capturing Life’s Real Moments in Cambridgeshire.
How I Got Here
For 25 years, my world revolved around precision, planning, and science as I worked for NASA in Space Operations. It was a high-intensity career, and photography began as a creative outlet—the hobby that helped me unwind and find moments of quiet.
When my children were born, my photography took on new meaning. I wanted to capture their childhood as beautifully and authentically as I could. To sharpen my skills, I studied under a talented portrait photographer and dedicated myself to practice, and continuous learning and improvement.
A few years ago, my family made a big leap, moving across the Atlantic from the beautiful coastal town of Marblehead, just north of Boston, to our new home here in Cambridge, UK. Stepping away from the corporate pace allowed me to align my passion with my day-to-day life, and Sabina Hurley Photography was born.
Today you can find me, camera in hand, exploring the countryside and historic sites and, of course, capturing beautiful photos of my family and the families around Cambridgeshire that I am lucky enough to work with.
My Creative Philosophy
While I still find the quiet, technical process of landscape photography meditative and grounding, I find joy in photographing people.
My style is timeless, natural, and true-to-life—with just a little bit of pop. I intentionally steer clear of trends that will look dated in a few years. Instead, my goal is to help you look your best while capturing the genuine, unscripted moments that make up your real story: big laughs, quiet connections, hand-holding, silly faces, and genuine smiles.
While my core focus is on relaxed family life and professional portraiture, I also love the fun and spirit of a dramatic costume shoot or a fun, stylized portrait session from time to time! So reach out if you have something a little different in mind.
Whether we are shooting in my dedicated village studio in Bourn, exploring the footpaths of Cambourne, or catching the morning sun in the historic centre of Cambridge, I can't wait to help you hold on to your favorite moments.
A Few Fun Facts About Me:
My Go-To Camera Setup: Like many engineers, I love my Nikon. I shoot with a professional-grade digital body and lenses that create gorgeous, creamy background blur (bokeh) to make your features stand out beautifully.
When I'm Not Behind the Lens: You can find me exploring the Cambridgeshire countryside, enjoying local footpaths, checking out the latest restaurants, and supporting my daughter’s swim team.
Technical & Creative Mix: I love photography because it merges both sides of my brain. My creative side—honed by taking art classes alongside my technical ones throughout my education—can visualize exactly how I want an image to look. The camera then allows me to use my technical side to precisely control the gear, light, and settings to bring that vision to life.
Connecting with People: Being somewhat shy myself, photographing people gives me a wonderful opportunity for genuine connection. Whether I am working with a high-energy toddler or a camera-shy professional, I know what it takes to feel comfortable. My focus is always on creating a relaxed space so your real personality can shine through naturally.
Let’s create something beautiful together.
